Trail King S-300 Transporter turning from Route 2 into Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station 7/18/02!

The above transporter system has a capacity of 500 Tons.   It is shown carrying the
unused 100 ton Reactor Head from Midland Michigan,  Many restraining cables
were used to properly secure the reactor closure assembly load for the 250 mile trip.

There are adjustments all over the equipment, located at both sides of each pivoting section.
You can see a 90 degree turn had to be made a manner that safely avoided the powerline pole!
The sections can be seen offset, they use pivot actions as needed to position the load away from objects.
Additionally there are some adjustments to change load distribution across the wheels,
This is accomplished by changing the distance between axle triplets  (see picture,
and note there are groups of three axles I call triplets).  Each axle in the trailer can be made
wider by an extension cylinder set using hydraulics.  All of these special mechanisms
are operated by hydraulic devices, and can be operated from a platform control panel which,
in the case of this transporter, is mounted atop a small 3 wheeled section attached in the back
.
